Clients preparing to undergo facial surgery require extra-special treatment, according to Olga Lorencin-Northrup, co-founder of the Kinara Skincare Clinic. "Its very important for the skin to be at its optimal health prior to cosmetic procedures. After years of working with the skin of clients that will have cosmetic surgery, I’ve developed a program of facial treatments specifically for this very particular and specialized situation."

Pre and Post Operative Treatments

Stage One - Pre-Op Treatment
The first facial is designed to prepare the client’s skin for the upcoming surgery. We have devised a treatment that includes a deep exfoliation which is specifically designed for the client using a combination of beta-hydroxy acids and amino acids. This active exfoliating treatment leaves the skin prepared for our next step. After assessing the skin, a determination of further procedure will be made. The process could be or would include, extractions to help eliminate debris from the pores and a mask to facilitate hydration, softening, detoxing or absorption to balance the texture and internal structure of the skin. When the pores are clear and the texture of the epidermis is balanced, the skin will maintain a natural moisture factor (NMF) that promotes cell regeneration, desensitization, and assists in skin fighting bacterial invasion.

At this time, the client undergoes lymphatic drainage treatment, which assists with proper functioning of the body’s immune process, the transport of nourishment to the cell, and the removal of toxins and waste products from the cells, all systems that are integral to the healing process of the body and skin.

Stage Two - 8th Week Post-Op Treatment
At eight weeks, the client will probably be experiencing numbness as the healing process continues and the tissues are reconstructing themselves. This would is an excellent time for the client to have a thorough cleansing of the skin but without harsh exfoliation that would be over stimulating. After the cleansing, antibacterial or anti-inflammatory product may be applied. A high frequency wand may also be used on the skin at this point as it is an excellent tool to help the product absorb, fight bacteria and desensitize the skin. The high frequency wand can be passed by the healing sutures around the scalp and back of ears.

We also use a Novasonic device, which is a form of ultrasound. The Novasonic assists in the healing of the skin, reducing inflammation and helping to break down any scar tissue deposits that may be forming. This treatment is used with hydrating and desensitizing serums rich in antioxidants.

Stage Three - 12th Week Post-Op Treatment
At twelve weeks, our third treatment is a more advanced version of the second in accordance to the healing process of the individual client. This facial may include an active mild exfoliating treatment with amino acids, light to medium extractions, Novasonic high frequency, lymphatic massage and calming hydrating mask.

During every step of this three part program, detailed instructions will be given to the client regarding their at-home regimen of skin care.
