For Yugoslavian
born skin expert Olga Lorencin and renowned restaurateur Christine
Splichal,
a French native, the concept and creation of Kinara, a skin care clinic,
day spa, café and boutique, came naturally. With customized skin
care and body treatments, a new concept of spa cuisine and shopping available
within one original and beautiful setting, the two have set new standards
and have mastered the art of the ideal spa experience.
Kinara, meaning "On the Edge" in Hindi, opened
its doors in October, 2002 in West Hollywood’s design district at
656 North Robertson Boulevard. The spa structure, created by award-winning,
Californian
architect Hagy
Belzberg,
is a modern work of art designed to be a porthole between the outside
world and the inner serenity of this very private spa.
Kinara is designed to be perfectly balanced, as it is subtle but
not bare, calm but not Zen and natural but not serious. The interior
is a harmonious,
elegant environment evocative of a mood that is Eastern Indian, Balinese
and French. Exotic woods mix with a color palette made up of warm
earth tones including whites, neutrals, yellows, browns and greens
with bursts
of vivid oranges and reds. Every treatment room is overly ample in
size with natural sunlight and state-of-the-art equipment.
The spa is a total sensory experience to savor and enjoy. Whether
it’s
an all day indulgence, lunch and a simple treatment Kinara has
it all.
Skincare and Spa Treatments
Each Kinara skin care and spa treatment has been created or customized
by Olga Lorencin-Northrup, a leading expert facialist whose objective
is to find skincare solutions no matter the challenge. All treatments
and services
are based on classic techniques that have been infused with a modern
edge. There are no fad-driven trends here - only effective results.
All her life Olga has experimented with every natural remedy and
cosmetic product on the market. She never hesitated to contact
dermatologists and
other doctors for their advice on cosmeceutical trends when creating
her own tried and tested products. It is this fearless confidence
backed by her
thorough knowledge and experience that draws Hollywood’s leading
celebrities and industry elite to her as clients today.
Whether it’s a facial, hydrotherapy bath, body scrub, massage
or body wrap it has been customized and delicately balanced with the
best natural
ingredients and cutting edge technology to provide results while
also caring for and nurturing the body.
Kinara Skin Care Products
Olga has also created the Kinara Skin Care line,
a new collection of products that combine herbal and pharmaceutical
ingredients guaranteed to bring about effective and immediate
results.
A successful combination of the most effective, high potency
vitamins, antioxidants, and herbal extracts of uncompromising
quality, Kinara’s
products will eliminate impurities, diminish pores, reduce fine
lines and soften deep ones, moisten and eventually eliminate age spots
and other discolorations.
In addition to the Kinara Skin Care line, Olga has also carefully
selected leading beauty and skin care products from Ayer-medic,
Dermed, DDF and Hormeta
as well as others, readily available through the spa boutique.
Kinara
Café
Kinara's new idea of dining within the spa was a concept of Christine
Splichal's, one of
Los Angeles' premier restaurateurs and co-founder of the famed
Patina Group (with
her husband, Master Chef Joachim Splichal).
Christine and chef de cuisine Elizabeth
Mendez create seasonal
menus prepared around foods that are mostly certified
organic
ingredients of the highest and freshest quality standards. The
food is as healthy as it is delicious, and the dishes and ingredients
were chosen
specifically
for their skin care benefits. From freshly squeezed juices, to
grilled salmon and seared Ahi salads, the café kitchen prepares everything à-la-minute
for maximum nutritional benefits, freshness and flavor. For those who are
interested in celebrating, Kinara serves a fine and limited selection of
Christine’s favorite wines and champagnes, an offering not typically
found in the average day spa. The Café serves breakfast, lunch,
afternoon tea and early dinner to spa patrons as well as a loyal dining
clientele.
Kinara Cadeaux
Believing that the Kinara lifestyle experience should to extend
to the home, Christine conceived the notion of Kinara Cadeaux,
a unique and elegant boutique. Cadeaux sells many of the imported artisan
objects
and
accessories that are used throughout the spa. Christine has hand
selected from among a variety of items such as pillows, throws,
linens, glassware
and objects, utensils, sleep and loungewear all of which have
been
imported from Europe or the East, most of which are not commonly
found at retail here
in the U.S.
